PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reducing furnace for giving continuous reducing treatment to a long work in a hydrogen gas atmosphere, having construction permitting the safe insertion/removal of the work in an opened state without burning hydrogen gas at the inlet and outlet of the furnace. SOLUTION: The reducing furnace 10 for giving non-oxidation heat treatment to the surface of the long work consisting of a high melting point metal long wire, a narrow and thin plate material and a foiled material comprises double structure outer and inner muffles 2, 3 each having both ends excluding a central portion blocked in the reducing furnace 10, a plurality of inactive gas curtain mechanisms provided on tubes 17 at the inlet and outlet of the reducing furnace 10, and burner ports 18, 18 for burning hydrogen.
