PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnesium stearate for elastic fibers having good dispersibility in an oil solution and capable of keeping a disperse state which is stable for a long period in the oil solution, a method for producing the magnesium stearate and an oil solution for elastic fibers containing the magnesium stearate and obtain an elastic fiber having little yarn breakage in spinning and having high tensile strength by using the oil solution for elastic fibers. SOLUTION: The present invention provides magnesium stearate for elastic fibers, having 0.01-3μm average particle diameter,≤0.4 standard deviation of particle size distribution, in which 95% particle diameter is≤3 times based on average particle diameter, the method for producing the magnesium stearate and the oil solution for elastic fiber containing 0.005-15 wt.% magnesium stearate for elastic fibers.
