PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for polyurethane-insulated wire giving an insulated coating film having extremely low residual solvent content even by using a solvent containing a phenolic solvent and having excellent safety, storage stability and insulation property. SOLUTION: The coating material for insulated wire is produced by dissolving a polyurethane resin having urethane bond and capable of forming an insulated film in a solvent consisting of a mixture of (A) an alkylene carbonate, (B) a phenolic compound and (C) an aromatic and/or aliphatic hydrocarbon.
