PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of control tables being used when a target is carried. SOLUTION: The unit for moving a target being ejected with liquid to a liquid ejecting region comprises a stepping motor for moving the target toward the liquid ejecting region, a section for judging the exciting state when the stepping motor is brought to rest, and a motor control section for driving the stepping motor into a predetermined exciting state using the decision results from the exciting state judging section when it is started from resting state and then driving the stepping motor according to a predetermined drive sequence.
