PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coupling compound and a coupling catalyst. SOLUTION: The coupling compound expressed by general formula (3) (Y-)(n-1)R1-R2-(R1)(n'-1)(Y is R2or X1) is produced by reacting n'-mol of an organic halide expressed by formula (1): (R1X1n) with m-mol of a boron compound of formula (2): äR2(BX22)n'} in the presence of a catalyst composed of a nickel compound and a compound expressed by general formula (i) (R3is an alkyl; R4is H or an alkyl; (l) is an integer of 1-3; and p and q are each an integer of 0-2). In formula (1) and formula (2), X1is Br or I; R1is a hydrocarbon group wherein the carbon atom withinγ-site range from X1is sp3carbon atom; n and n' are each 1 or 2; R2is an aryl or an alkenyl; X2is hydroxy or an alkoxy; m is 1 or 2; and m≤n.
