PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device capable of promoting the warming property when an engine is cold, and adequately cooling the engine according to the operating condition when the engine is warm. SOLUTION: When the engine is cold, cooling water is circulated between a cylinder head 1 and a cylinder block 2. When the engine is warm under a low load, cooling water is allowed to run only in the cylinder head 1 among the cylinder head 1 and the cylinder block 2, and also allowed to run in a radiator 21 as necessary. When the engine is warm under a high load, cooling water is circulated between the cylinder head 1, the cylinder block 2 and the radiator 21, and the cooling water flowing from the radiator is allowed to run in the cylinder head 1 first, and in the cylinder block 2 thereafter.
