PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning device in which the variable range of the light quantity of a light source which outputs a plurality of optical beams is variable with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A laser diode (LD) tip LD1 is ignited while the voltage is set at a reference value Vref=Vref0, an initial light quantity of the LD tip LD1 is so controlled with a light receiving element that a monitor voltage for monitoring the output light quantity of the LD tip is substantially matched with a reference voltage (Term T1). Next, the voltage is set at Vref=Vref0+Vrefα, the LD tip LD1 is ignited at the light quantity after the initial control and an LD tip LD2 is ignited, and the output light quantity of the LD tip LD2 is so controlled that the monitor voltage substantially coincides with the reference voltage (Term T2). Next, the voltage is set at Vref=Vref0, the LD tip LD2 is ignited at the light quantity after the light quantity control, the LD tip LD1 is ignited, and the output light quantity of the LD tip LD1 is so controlled that the monitor voltage is substantially matched with the reference voltage (Term T3).
