PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable photocatalyst carrier, which has a high photocatalytic activity and strong mechanical strength such as shock resistance, and is not decomposed by a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst carrier comprises a non-oxide ceramic as a carrier such as silicon nitride carrying titanium oxide. Particularly, the carrier carries anatase-type crystalline titanium oxide. The method for producing a photocatalyst carrier involves the steps of causing a carrier comprising the non-oxide ceramic to contain a solution containing titanium, and then heating the carrier for titanium oxide to be generated on the carrier.
