<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, inexpensive gas sensor for efficiently radiating electromagnetic waves at an absorption wavelength region of gas to be detected, and to provide a filament for gas sensors. <P>SOLUTION: A radiation source 6 for gas sensors comprises the filament 8, where a microcavity that has an opening diameter which is nearly half the wavelength of the absorption spectrum of a gas whose concentration is measured and a depth that is two times larger than the opening diameter; and by providing a valve 10, including the filament in a decompression state or in a state with a noble gas sealed, radiation can be obtained efficiently with respect to the wavelength region of the absorption spectrum of the gas to be detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
