PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the attachment of a silicon gas in the atmospheric air to a flame introducing part as poisoned matter, and to stably detect whether a combustor is in a normal combustion state or not. SOLUTION: This flame sensor 11 has a detecting rod 12 made out of a heat-proof iron material and the like, and a tip end side of the detection rod 12 is mounted in the flame of a burner as the flame introducing part 12A. The electric current flows in the detection rod 12 in its longitudinal direction by introducing the ion in the flame from the flame introducing part 12A. The flame introducing part 12A of the detecting rod 12 has a protective layer 18 made out of a porous ceramic material for selectively cutting off a silicon gas in the atmospheric air. The protective layer allows the ion from the flame to be guided to the flame introducing part 12A in a state of penetrating inside, and prevents the intrusion of silicon toward the flame introducing part 12A.
