PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fastening member, and an external wall construction structure and an external wall construction method using the fastening member with excellent durability capable of fastening external wall plates with right and left joint parts disposed at a part where no vertical member is disposed, with sufficient strength. SOLUTION: This fastening member 1 fastens the external wall plates with the right and left joint parts disposed at the part where no vertical member is disposed, to a structural skeleton. The fastening member 1 has a long-sized fixed plate 2 fixed over two vertical members, and a sliding fastening metal fitting 3 mounted in a laterally slidable manner to the front face. The sliding fastening metal fitting 3 has a base part 31, an upper leg part 32, a lower leg part 33, a support part 34, an upper plate locking part 35 and a lower plate locking part 36. The sliding fastening metal fitting 3 is constituted to be disposed at the upper ends and lower ends of the right and left joint parts of the external wall plates and engaged with the upper side parts and lower side parts of the right and left external wall plates.
