The printer comprises an endless strip (12) as an intermediate medium for printing pictures which is effectively connected with a unit for transfer of the picture from the unit to the receiving material. The strip sideways is limited by first and second edges (100,101) and comprises a carrier with an under side and an upper side turned away from it on which is a top layer which can accommodate and emit the picture. The carrier in the region of each of the edges has a through hole (103), extending from the underside to the upper side of the carrier.
