The cross-folding device folds sheets of paper between a sheet feed cylinder (02) and a folding cylinder (03) which can keep the paper aligned. The two cylinders bound an output filler with a sheet guide element (08) in it. The wall bounding the output filler contains at least one air entry aperture (07) to admit air to an intermediate cavity (16).
