PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an emulsion pressure-sensitive self-adhesive which exhibits excellent dispersion stability for a monomer and a polymer and gives a polymer forming a pressure-sensitive self-adhesive having excellent adhesion to a wet surface. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the emulsion pressure-sensitive self-adhesive comprises (co)polymerizing the main monomer using as a protective colloid an acrylic copolymer which comprises a hydrophilic monomer (A) comprising acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and an alkyl (meth)acrylate (B) copolymerizable with the hydrophilic monomer (A) and having 4-9 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, at a weight ratio of (40-70):(60-30), and has a weight-average molecular weight within 500-50,000. The thus-obtained pressure-sensitive self-adhesive is stably used and is excellent in adhesive properties, re-adhesive properties and the adhesion to the wet surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
