PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a folding time and improve the durability of a roller. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a folding roller for folding a paper while passing through a nip of a roller pair, an additional folding roller for further folding the folded portion of the folded papers in a guide plate, driving means for moving the additional folding roller in the direction perpendicular to the paper feed direction, and control means for controlling the driving means, thereby providing the folding treatment onto the paper after image formation. The control means previously moves the roller to near the edge of the paper to be further folded, and makes it wait there (Steps S140, S141, S142, and S143). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
