PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce stress concentration at a corner part by forming intentionally a mismatch part between a small R-part on the corner part of a holding groove and a large R-part on the bottom part thereof, to facilitate processing, and to reduce the processing man-hours. SOLUTION: This toroidal specimen 5 for a material test has three or more pairs of holding grooves 5a arranged oppositely on both faces respectively from the center toward the circumference, and three or more pairs of stress mitigation grooves 5g arranged between the holding grooves 5a from the center toward the circumference. In the sectional shape in the tangent direction of the holding groove 5a, the small R-parts 5c are connected to the inner edges of vertical parts 5b on both sides, and the large R-parts 5e forming the bottom part 5f are connected to the inner edges of the small R-parts 5c, and connection parts between the small R-parts 5c and the large R-parts 5e are slightly projecting mismatch parts A.
