PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermostat abnormality detection device which can easily detect abnormality of a thermostat with relatively high accuracy even from a partial warming-up condition. SOLUTION: An abnormality judging section 22 judges that the device is in the partial warming-up condition when cooling water temperature detected by a water temperature sensor 3 is above 40 degrees and blow 50 degrees for instance, forcibly drives an electric-powered fan 12 and forcibly cools cooling water in a radiator 11. The abnormality judging section 22, after forcibly driving the electric-powered fan 12, obtains a difference between the cooling water temperature detected by the water temperature sensor 3 and estimated cooling water temperature and judges that the thermostat 13 provided in a cooling water circulation passage 15 has opening abnormality when the obtained difference is under a predetermined value of abnormality judgment.
