PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a saddle type vehicle including a supporting device for supporting an exhaust pipe on a drive unit as embodied in a compact and lightweight structure, capable of facilitating the mounting works of the exhaust pipe on the drive unit by the supporting device. SOLUTION: The drive device 7 of the saddle type vehicle is equipped with the drive unit 11 having an engine 13 and pivoted swingably on the vehicle body 2, the exhaust pipe 20 extending backward from the engine 13, and the supporting device 22 to support the middle part of the exhaust pipe 20 in its longitudinal direction on the drive unit 11. The supporting device 22 is furnished with a first bracket 28 formed on the drive unit 11, a second bracket 30 formed in the middle part 21 of the exhaust pipe 20, and upper and lower fastening tools 31 to couple together the tail of the first bracket 28 and the forefront of the second bracket 30 in their relative positioning any desired in the fore-and-aft direction.
