A lane delineator is disclosed, which is useful for marking or defining lanes, carriageway and parking spaces for vehicular traffic, wherein the lane delineator comprises a substantially perpendicular upright post-like member attached to a base for fixing to a roadway or such other suitable substrates, wherein the base element is made from a suitably deformable material and is provided with the means for attachment of the base to the road or such other suitable substrate, and wherein the post-like member is recoverably deformable in relation to the base element so that the lane delineator is omni directional in being able to withstand impact from vehicles or other forces coming in any direction, including being hit and run over, and wherein the base is hollow to assist deformation and recovery and is generally of either arcuate or conical cross-section, and wherein the wall of the base has an effective discontinuity in the surface thereof, formed by a depression or fold in the wall, resulting in a gusset in a wall of the base to minimise ripping or tearing thereof when subjected to sudden impact and recovery.
