PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound changing its refractive index by a light irradiation and being with a large variation of the refractive index and further readily to make a film, a method for producing the same and a refractive index conversion material and a light-heat energy conversion and storage material comprising the compound. SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (1). Wherein R1is a group represented by formula (a), (b) or (c) and R2is a group represented by a 1-16C alkyl or -C6H5OR1.
