CONVEYING DEVICE AND METHOD OF FILM CARRIER TAPE FOR MOUNTING ELECTRONIC PARTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device and a conveying method, which are capable of stably conveying a film carrier tape for mounting electronic parts without causing damage thereon. SOLUTION: The film carrier tape conveying device is equipped with a rolling-out side tension applying means 21 which applies tension to the rolling-out side of the electronic part mounting film carrier tap 3 and equipped with a rolling-up side tension applying means 23 which applies tension larger than the former tension to the rolling-up side, and the film conveying tape 3 is transferred by the gear projections 31 of a drive gear 17 while the projections 31 are hardly brought into contact with the ends of sprocket holes 40 provided to the tape 3 in a conveying direction. The axial center of the pressing roll 19 of a conveying drive unit 15 is set so as to excurse from that of the drive gear 17 by a prescribed angle in the conveying direction, whereby the film carrier tape 3 is conveyed as it is brought into surface-contact with the drive roll surface of the drive gear 17 and the pressing roll surface of the pressing roll 19.
