PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To magnetically transfer a recording mark to a reproducing layer from each recording layer without being affected by a leaking magnetic field of an auxiliary magnetic layer, in a magneto-optical recording medium consisting of two magnetic recording layers which include magnetic recording layers exchangeably coupled with the auxiliary magnetic layer, and one reproducing layer. SOLUTION: The 1st magnetic recording layer 12 with the 1st compensating temperature, the auxiliary magnetic layer 11 for controlling the magnetizing state of the recording mark formed on the 1st magnetic recording layer 12 by the exchange coupling, the 2nd magnetic recording layer 13 with the 2nd compensating temperature different from the 1st compensating temperature, and the reproducing layer 14, in which the recording marks being formed on the 1st magnetic recording layer 12 and the 2nd magnetic recording layer 13 are formed by the magnetic transfer, are laminated on a substrate. The auxiliary magnetic layer 11 has a compensating temperature in the same extent as the 1st compensating temperature of the 1st magnetic recording layer and also formed out of such a material that the level of a magnetic polarization of the 2nd magnetic recording layer around the 2nd compensating temperature is lower than the level of a magnetic polarization of the 1st magnetic recording layer.
