PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately assure the elasticity and viscosity after passage through a fixing nip, to more effectively improve the surface smoothness of a fixing surface and both of the fixing intensity and transparency of a toner and to prevent fattening out of characters by using the dynamic viscoelastic characteristics more in line with the actual toner behavior at the time of heating and fixing. SOLUTION: The toner is set to≤100 dyn/cm<SP>2</SP>in the variation for the prescribed time of 200 seconds of storage modulus (G'(NL)) in a nonlinear region at 180°C in a step strain measurement from a linear region to nonlinear region of the viscoelastic characteristics. As a result, the elasticity after the passage through the fixing nip is assured at the time of the heating and fixing and both of the surface smoothness of the fixing surface and the fixing intensity of the toner can be more effectively improved and the prevention of the fattening of the characters is made possible.
