FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device for an image forming apparatus which steadily drives and conveys a fixing belt and forms a fixing nip. SOLUTION: A pressing member 1 is fixedly disposed on the inside of the fixing belt 2 in order to form a nip between a pressure roller 3 and itself via the fixing belt 2. An elastic member 4 disposed toward the pressure roller 3 is in firm contact with the internal face of the fixing belt 1 in the direction in which paper P is conveyed. The elastic member 4 of the pressing member 1 and the pressure roller 3 forms a fixing nip in pressure contact with each other via the fixing belt 2. The fixing belt 2 is wrapped round a heat roller 5 incorporating a halogen heater 6. A drive roller 7 for driving the fixing belt 2 is disposed downstream of the nip in the direction in which the paper P is convened. The drive roller 7 is rotated following the fixing belt 2 such that the belt 2 is pulled upward from the exit of the nip. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
