PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1,2-polybutanediol not causing precipitation at a low temperature. SOLUTION: In the method for producing 1,2-polybutanediol from 1,2-polybutadienediol by hydrogenation reaction, the content of 1,12-dodecanediol in 1,2-polybutanediol is≤2,000 ppm. To be concrete, a method using 1,2-polybutadienediol having≤2,000 ppm content of 4,8-dodecane-1,12-diol, a method for subjecting 1,2-polybutanediol obtained by the hydrogenation reaction to thin-film distillation under reduced pressure, etc., may be cited as the method.
