PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong a service life of a member that is applied with a high voltage in order to make the static discharge required for letting the discharge current flow on the image on recording medium. SOLUTION: This fixing device 10, is made to perform electric discharge by a discharging device 20 consisting of a discharging roller 21 on which a specific voltage is applied, and a driven roller 22 disposed opposite to the discharging roller, with regard to the toner image formed on a recording sheet 8 by the liquid developer consisting of carriers liquid and the toner, and moreover to perform fixing in aggregating the toner by the above electric discharge current flow. The fixing device is constituted so as not to perform the electric discharge when the recording sheet is not present between the rollers, at the time of making the discharge current flow to flow with regard to the toner image on the recording sheet.
