<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melt granulator for plastics which can reduce the chlorine content of separated plastics not containing chlorine and a method for separating mixed waste plastics using the melt granulator. <P>SOLUTION: In the melt granulator, an agitator is rotated to generate frictional heat, and the plastics is melted and granulated. The agitator 11 rotated in the circumferential direction of a melting/granulating tank 10 is installed in the lower part of the tank 10 into which the plastics is charged.
