HIGH-OUTPUT VARIABLE OPTICAL ATTENUATOR USING FUSION FIBER COUPLER, IN WHICH INSERTION LOSS IS REDUCED

PURPOSE: A high-output variable optical attenuator using a fusion fiber coupler is provided to reduce the insertion loss and the manufacturing cost by using the fusion fiber coupler. CONSTITUTION: A high-output variable optical attenuator using a fusion fiber coupler includes a fusion optical coupler, a mobile optical fiber holder and a fixed optical fiber holder. The fusion optical coupler(10a) includes a single input terminal(50) and two output terminals(60a,60b). The mobile optical fiber holder is connected to an axial motion unit(20) for moving horizontally an optical holder(30a,40a). The fusion optical coupler is installed between the mobile optical fiber holder and the fixed optical fiber holder.
