PURPOSE: A compression coil spring and a reciprocating compressor with the compression coil spring are provided to minimize the rotating moment produced during compression. CONSTITUTION: A compression coil spring(C) has protrusions(110) formed to the peripheral surface of the outermost wire rod(N1) opposed to an adjoining wire rod(N2). The protrusion comprises a contact surface projecting from the end of the outermost wire rod at a predetermined rake angle and coming in contact with the adjoining wire rod, and a separation surface formed from the end of the contact surface to the outer peripheral surface of the outermost wire rod and always separated from the adjoining wire rod.
