PURPOSE: A signal inputting method using a function key and a mobile phone using the same are provided to allow a user to input various signals quickly by using limited key buttons. CONSTITUTION: When power is applied to a mobile phone, a function key for changing an input signal of a key button is selected and it is determined whether the selected function key is maintained. The first and second input signals which are different each other are assigned to each key button, and the first and second input signals are set when a cellular phone is manufactured. When the selected function key is maintained and a key button is selected(120), the second input signal is generated corresponding to the selected key button(130). If the selected function key is not maintained, it is determined whether a key button is selected(140). If a key button is selected, the first input signal corresponding to the selected key button is generated(150). When the input signal is generated, the signal is inputted to a controller of the mobile phone(160).
