<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition excellent in electrolytic solution resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, adhesiveness, suppression for resin crack initiation in a cold heat cycle and preservation stability and provide a coating material remarkably improving the life of a battery coated with the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The epoxy resin composition comprises (a) an epoxy resin which is liquid at room temperature, (b) a phenol compound and a metal complex as a latent catalyst, (c) a butyral resin and (d) an inorganic filler.
