The suspension is made to flow through a catchment strainer, above which the measurement vessel is ventilated. At two alternating pressures the suspension tensions over the strainer are measured, and the result obtained at the lower pressure is subtracted from that appertaining to the higher pressure. Simultaneously, the resistance of the suspension, its conductivity, temp., and its viscosity are all measured, following which its flow potential is calculated, based on its conductivity and viscosity, together with the pressure differences between the upstream side of the particles collected on the underside of the strainer downstream side. Also taken into consideration is a predetermined suspension dielectric constant. - The drainage situation is calculated using the obtained value of the filtrate flow speed at known pressure differences between the upstream and downstream sides of the strainer. Electrodes (5,6) are positioned on each side of the strainer to determine the tensions between particle suspension on the strainer upstream side and that of the filtrate on the downstream side. Above the strainer, are fluid level monitors. |
