PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic drive unit capable of achieving compactness of the whole body of a hydraulic drive device by simplifying the constitution of a hydraulic generating device and making it a single unit. SOLUTION: A hydraulic actuator 2 and a hydraulic generating device 3 are integrated to be one body in this hydraulic drive device 1. The hydraulic generating device 3 is provided with a hydraulic pump 32 driven by an electric motor 31, and an oil tank 34 communicated with pump ports 32a and 32b in the hydraulic pump 32 through control valves 36a and 36b incorporated in part of a rear case 33 of the hydraulic pump 32, is constituted so that, as the hydraulic pump 32 is driven to rotate normally and inversely, the hydraulic actuator is actuated. and also, it is constituted so that the hydraulic actuator is a hydraulic cylinder 2, and as the hydraulic pump 32 is driven to rotate normally and inversely, oil is fed between a piston side chamber 2a and a rod side chamber 2b to adjust insufficiency or excess of oil through the oil tank 34, the hydraulic cylinder 2 is actuated to be extended/contracted.
