Photoconductive material for use in electrophotography consisting of an electrostatically charged polyamide with repeating units (I) where R1 = H or low alkyl, R2 and R3 = opt. substd. phenyl or polyphenyl divalent aromtic radical or divalent alipathic rad. with not > 15C, in which at least one of R2 and R3 is aromatic; of a linear copolyimide condensation product of a diamine and atetracarboxylic acid having repeating units (II) or a homopolymer with repeating units (II) where R = 4-valent org. rad. with at least 2 C atoms, R1 = divalent org. rad. with at least 2C atoms, bound to 2N atoms and R or R1 or both contain at least one 6 C ring with benzene unsaturation. Examples of suitable materials are, e.g. poly(methaphenylene isophthalic acid amide), polyimide films made from pyromellitic anhydride and bis(4-amino-phenyl) ether.
