A bag for use in vacuum packaging comprises a first and second overlapping panels. A plurality of channels having a plurality of baffles is formed on o ne or more of the panels for evacuating air or other gases from inside the bag using suction, while preventing liquids from being drawn inside it. In one embodiment, the forming of a bag involves between cooling and laminating rol ls includes feeding a gas-impermeable material to a nip between the rolls. Resi n is extruded to the nip so that it fills a plurality of cavities of the cooli ng roll, forming an inner layer that adheres to the gas-impermeable material.
