PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle monitoring method for recognizing a travelling track of a vehicle in an intersection at a single monitoring point. SOLUTION: Cameras 1, 2 sequentially photograph the rear part of a vehicle 100 in a condition that a part of a field of vision 7 of a camera 1 for recognizing a vehicle number and a field of vision 8 of a camera 2 for monitoring a travelling track are overlapped each other, an image processing device 3 processes the pictures photographed by the camera 1 to recognize the vehicle number of the vehicle 100, an image processing device 4 processes the pictures photographed by the camera 2, based on the distance between the camera 1 and the vehicle 100 to detect the vehicle 100 and sequentially processes pictures including the vehicle 100 to recognize the fact, that the vehicle 100 has turned to right, turned to left or travelled straight, as the travelling track of the recognized vehicle 100 in the intersection.
