<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt deviating device capable of adjusting the height of a seat belt, which has a deviating device for deviating the seat belt. <P>SOLUTION: A deviating element connected to a tightening device for tightening the seat belt is pushed/pulled in a substantially vertical direction. The deviating element is provided with a coil spring as a tightening spring for tightening the seat belt, and a drive motor is provided for operating the tightening device in both normal/reverse directions.
