<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment system, by which NOx and SO<SB>3</SB>can be reduced and eliminated simultaneously in an effective manner, and an exhaust gas treatment method. <P>SOLUTION: According to the exhaust gas treatment system, NOx and SO<SB>3</SB>contained in an exhaust gas are eliminated using a catalyst. In the system, an SO<SB>3</SB>reduction catalyst is arranged upstream and a denitrification catalyst downstream in series relative to a gas flow direction. The system includes an SO<SB>3</SB>reducing process of reducing SO<SB>3</SB>upstream relative to the gas flow direction, using the SO<SB>3</SB>reduction catalyst, and a denitrifying process of eliminating NOx downstream, using the denitrification catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
