<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen the selection range of wavelengths of light obtained by being converted. <P>SOLUTION: The wavelength converter is provided with an SC (Supercontinuum) light generating part 12 making an excited light pulse outputted from an exciting light pulse light source incident and generating SC light and an optical wavelength filter 14 filtering the SC light. The exciting light pulse light source generates the excited light pulse having a center wavelengthλs. When the excited light pulse generated from the exciting light pulse light source is made incident, an SC medium generates SC light having a flat spectral shape in the range from a wavelengthλ<SB>L</SB>to a wavelengthλ<SB>H</SB>(whereinλ<SB>L</SB><λ<SB>H</SB>). The optical wavelength filter has such a characteristic that transmission center wavelengths of filtered light areλ<SB>1</SB>,λ<SB>2</SB>,λ<SB>3</SB>, to ,λ<SB>n</SB>(n means a natural number). The following conditions of (1) and (2-1), (2-2) to (2-n) are satisfied among the wavelengthsλ<SB>L</SB>andλ<SB>H</SB>, the wavelengthλs and wavelengthsλ<SB>1</SB>,λ<SB>2</SB>,λ<SB>3</SB>, to ,λ<SB>n</SB>(n means a natural number).λ<SB>L</SB><λs<λ<SB>H</SB>(1),λ<SB>L</SB><λ<SB>1</SB><λ<SB>H</SB>(2-1), to ,λ<SB>L</SB><λn<λ<SB>H</SB>(2-n). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
