<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder that can be made thin while obtaining improved detection sensitivity and can secure formability by selecting an appropriate material. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic encoder is provided with: a multipolar magnet 14 for forming magnetic poles alternately in a circumferential direction; and a core 11 for supporting the multipolar magnet 14. The amount of blend of magnetic powder in the multipolar magnet 14 is set to be 20-90 vol.%.
