The door has a locking unit (17), hinge (6) and hinge pin (3). When the door element is placed on the opening (8) of the mail box and the locking unit is locked the hinge pin can be exchanged outside of the locked box. The locking unit is formed from a bolt (15) which engages in a locking plate (16) of the box. The hinge is formed from a hinge wing of the door element and a hinge wing of the box.
