PURPOSE: An array substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for fabricating the array substrate are provided to prevent smear caused by a variation in parasitic capacitance. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate for an LCD includes a plurality of gate lines(102) arranged in one direction on a substrate, a common line(103) parallel with the gate lines and distant from the gate lines by a predetermined distance, a plurality of data lines(110) intersecting the gate lines, and a thin film transistor located at each of the intersections of the gate lines and the data lines. The thin film transistor includes a semiconductor layer(106,108) formed on a part of the gate lines, a source electrode(112) extended from a data line, the first and second drain electrodes(114,116) formed on both sides of the source electrode. The first and second drain electrodes have the same shape. The array substrate further includes the first pixel electrode(126) connected to the first drain electrode and the second pixel electrode(128) connected to the second drain electrode.
