<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device which can display date information such as a date of manufacture or a best-before date by a reduced number of digits, and to provide a printing method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The printing device prints a product identification code related to a product and a date identification code related to a date. The printing device has an input means 17 for inputting the product identification code and information related to the date, a day number calculating means 12 for calculating the number of days elapsing from a specific reference date on the basis of the inputted date, a bar code generating means 12 for generating a basic bar code pattern by synthesizing the number of passed days and the product identification code, and a printing means 5 for printing the basic bar code pattern formed by the bar code generating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
