PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which a light emission control is simplified, production cost is reduced by making an electron source and a control electrode as self alignment, and the tolerance is improved. SOLUTION: When the spacing between an electron source K and a control electrode G1 is Lkg, the spacing between the control electrode G1 and an accelerating electrode G2 is L12, the thickness of an opening EHL of the control electrode G1 is Tg1, and the minor axis of the opening EHL of the control electrode G1 is FG1; the accelerating electrode G2 is (Lkg + Tg1 + L12/2)/FG1≥0.25. Also, when the thickness of an opening AHL of the accelerating electrode G2 is Tg2, a minor axis of the opening AHL of the accelerating electrode G2 is FG2, Tg2min≤Tg2≤Tg2max, and also Tg2min = 2.98FG2-0.04.
