PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolyester which solves various problems of an adhesive obtained by copolymerizing neopentyl glycol, and of a polyester for a coating material, and which is excellent in solubility, transparency and color tone. SOLUTION: The copolyester consists of two or more acid components and glycol components, in which at least 15 mol% of the acid components comprise 6C or higher aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, 55 mol% or less thereof comprise terephthalic acid, 20-40 mol% of the glycol components comprise neopentyl glycol, and 10-25 mol% thereof comprise triethylene glycol, and which has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.5 dl/g.
