<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting one or a plurality of optional quantum dots out of a quantum dot group by using non-local excitation light. <P>SOLUTION: By irradiating an optical element with excitation light having peaks corresponding to three energy values (the phases of the light are defined as ϕ1, ϕ2 and ϕ3), only quantum dots having an excitation level (a resonance level) represented by the sum of sets ϕ1, ϕ2 and ϕ3 (ϕ1+ϕ2+ϕ3) are excited (selected), the distribution of the quantum dots is made discrete and only a single or a plurality of desired quantum dots can be selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
