Dental composition comprises a colloidal solution of silica in a crosslinkable and/or polymerizable silicone, an aromatic hydrocarbon photosensitizer and an onium salt initiator. Dental composition comprises: (a) a solution comprising 15-80% amorphous colloidal silica particles in a crosslinkable and/or polymerizable silicone which is liquid or melts below 100 deg C, has at least two silicon atoms and comprises at least one unit of formula (I); (b) an optionally substituted mono- or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon photosensitizer that absorbs light of wavelength 200-500 nm; and (c) a cationic initiator in which the cation is of formula (II): a = 0-2 R = H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, vinyl, OH or alkoxy Z = an organic groups with at least one epoxy, alkenyl ether, oxetane, dioxolane and/or carbonate function A = a group 15-17 element R<1> = 6-20C aryl or N- or S-containing heteroaryl, optionally substituted with 1-25C alkoxy, 1-25C alkyl, NO2, Cl, Br, CN, COOH, ester or SH R<2> = R<1> or 1-30C alkyl or alkenyl, optionally substituted as for R<1> n = an integer between 1 and v+1 v = the valence of A m = an integer between 0 and v-1 n+m = v+1 Independent claims are also included for: (1) a dental prosthesis made from the above composition; (2) a dental restoration material made from the above composition. |
