PURPOSE: An apparatus for compensating a high-speed power level in interfrequency measurement of a receiving automatic gain control circuit, and a method therefor are provided to remove high frequency components from the power level value of a previously received signal by a compensating circuit. CONSTITUTION: A ROM(Read Only Memory) table(100) stores transmitted power change to decide a received signal power level of an automatic gain control circuit. A compensating circuit(300) operates the current output value from the ROM table(100) by a previous output value of the ROM table(100), and then outputs the operated value. A multiplexer(310) selectively outputs the output value from the ROM table(100) and the output value from the compensating circuit(300).
