A secondary battery with high capacity and excellent charge/discharge cycle characteristics is disclosed. The secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte contains, as an active material for at least one of the positive electrode and negative electrode, a polymer having a repeating unit represented by the following formula (1). In the formula (1), R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> independently represent a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring group, or a halogen atom; or R<1> and R<3> and/or R<2> and R<4> represent alkylene groups, which combined together to form a ring. |
