<p>The detector (10), especially for mounted on the back of a vehicle to warn a driver of obstacles behind him when parking in reverse, contains a camera (18) in a sealed housing (22) with a window (26) in its rear wall. The external surface (26e) of the window has an active coating e.g. of water-repellent and/or catalytic material and is cleaned by a combination of pressure fluid jets and vibrators (30) that cause the window to vibrate at a frequency causing any adhering material to fall off. In addition, ice, snow and mist can be removed by a transparent heating film (36) between two parallel plates (34a, 34b) forming the window.</p> |
